Statement + Bio

Welcome.  :)

I am a Contemporary Artist and Art Educator with over 20 years experience. My main area of focus is contemporary painting, specifically mixed media and abstraction. I create abstract and non-representational images which explore the relationships between colour, organic forms, manipulated textures, contrast and movement using a variety of traditional and non-traditional media.

My Artwork engages the viewer through non-traditional painting techniques and imaginative possibilities. My abstract studies are reflections on contemporary life and are my attempts to capture the beauty of materials and their complexities. I glean inspiration from the Abstract Expressionist movement, the Canadian landscape, interior design, nature, florals, seasonal changes and the beauty found in everyday life.

All my artwork is unique, colourful, expressive and bold. My creative process involves using a variety of media and techniques with oils, acrylics, mixed media, fluid art as well as textural painting. I am currently working on a my Abstract Florals series, creating three-dimensional artworks with relief textures combining a range of techniques and processes.
